I agree with George Washington on this statement he made some three centuries ago. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees with him particularly on his inclusion of the Bible in his statement. A nation that has a leader (President) but has no constitution will certainly not be governed rightly. The desire for God in effective governance will be a goose chase if His words will not be considered. God in Himself rules through His words which are boldly scripted in the Holy Bible. As to the Holy Bible being the true word of God, it is an argument that has been long won with credible facts (physically and spiritually). We can only say we are under God's rulership if we rule in accordance with His words in the Bible. The Holy Bible is the constitution of this world and it is a manual for fruitful human living. All living that do not conform to that which is directed by the holy scriptures are deemed unfruitful; they may seem flourishing in the beginning but always end with pain. The early Americans believed so much in the power of the word of God and as a result made it a centrepiece of governance. That, certainly, is what laid a great foundation for the strong, America we see today. Though great, they are gradually plunging because of the dominance of unbiblical practices and the almost complete exclusion of the Bible in governance. The Bible teaches good morals that are needed by men (politicians and non-ploticians) to do anything worthy of approval by God. All tyrants and dictators known in the history of the world never considered God nor His words in their rulership, rather, they chose to rule with their limited ideas all of which are against God's words. God and the Bible moves together. One cannot be considered without the other, which is why it will be completely erroneous to say you believe God's inclusion in governance is necessary but not His words (Holy Bible). A leader who truly reveres God and the Bible and consider them necessary elements for good governance initiates policies that do not contravene God's words. Unfortunately, there are just a few if not none, of such leaders in our political environment.
2Ti 3:16-17
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
